Does the daily access fee of att prepaid apply for messaging?

see on the brochure of at&t it says that on the unlimited calling plan preapid plan you are charged a daily access fee of 3 bucks.....it says when you call or receive calls it charges you.....does it also charge those 3 dollars if i message or is it only for voice calls??? please help me :/
